Small Area Plan Drafts Are Moving Forward

City staff is nearly finished with preliminary drafts of all current small area plans in preparation for a public review process with the Tulsa Metropolitan Area Planning Commission (TMAPC).  

An internal technical review by engineering, legal, INCOG and other key entities must occur prior to transmitting the drafts to the TMAPC; tech review has already begun for some of the plans.   

For each of the plans currently under development, please visit specific home pages for relevant information and announcements of key dates related to the formal review and approval process.

PLANiTULSA Implementation Timeline

The Planning Department has developed an interactive PDF document illustrating the estimated timeline for implementing the various facets of the PLANiTULSA Comprehensive Plan.

The PLANiTULSA Implementation Timeline illustrates the expected timeframe for completing the action steps outlined in the PLANiTULSA Strategic Plan, which was developed to prioritize the specific actions needed to implement the Comprehensive Plan recommendations.

Planning Director Dawn Warrick's PLANiTULSA Implementation 2nd Quarter Update (Part 1 and Part 2), presented to the Urban & Economic Development Committee of the City Council on May 24th, is available for review.

Moving Forward with the Tulsa Comprehensive Plan

Since the adoption of the Tulsa 2010 Comprehensive Plan, through the PLANiTULSA process, the City of Tulsa has initiated key implementation strategies as outline in the Strategic Plan. The Strategic Plan is the centerpiece of the City’s planning function, as prescribed in the Comprehensive Plan.

In the past couple of months, we have made changes to our website, to inform you in detail about implementation activities. Highlights, for now, include:

• Hiring a Planning Director for the City of Tulsa
  
  
• Funding and starting work on the creation of three Small Area Plans (see above)
  
  
• Selecting a consultant to update the City of Tulsa's Zoning Code, kicking off in Spring 2012
  
  
• City Council adoption of a Complete Streets Policy
  
  
• Reorganization of the City's planning and development related functions into one division
  
  

As the City of Tulsa Planning Department continues its implementation of the Tulsa Comprehensive Plan, those activities will be listed on this website.
